I see myself passing through the small town of Kookaburra Creek and having a strawberry and white chocolate cupcake or two…
Upon arrival to the Small town, we meet Alice pond, who in the beginning, seems to be keeping busy for reasons unknown, reasons I must now find out. We then stumble into a fellow newcomer, Becci, a teen runaway for reasons unknown and let us not ignore the darling Hattie. Author Sandie Docker has my full and undivided attention.
As a bookworm, I’ll admit, some Chick Lit and Woman’s Fiction has to have characters I can relate to peak my interest. I’m pleased to say I was able to fully immerse myself into ‘The Kookaburra Creek Cafe’. The character’s wants, regrets, desires, fears, and doubts completely grabbed hold of my heartstrings, and I feel as if I could really relate to some of these topics and characteristics. The small town feels familiar and warm, and I feel as if I moved to Kookaburra Creek tomorrow, I’d be welcomed with open arms.
The story has a large amount of substance which keeps the audience very involved and invested. I was pleased with the outcome for the townspeople as Sandie really tied the story together for me without overextending the novel.
My only request as the reader would be to have access to the recipes used in this book in an online format. If you’re anything like me, the recipes in this book will bring your sweet tooth to the table.
I read this book in late January, early February of 2019. We are now heading into mid-March and my mind still ponders to Kookaburra Creek often. I’ll have to head over to Sandie Docker’s ‘The Cottage at Rosella Cove’ next as I’ve come to really enjoy her writing style and storytelling ability.
This was a library borrow for me, but I hope to purchase it at some stage in the future. I highly recommend this delightful offering anyone who enjoys Woman’s Fiction, Chick Lit and Australian authors as you can’t go wrong here.
